JUST found this little baby on my phone and thought it'd a great post!
This is our lead, Christian - he played Ben in our film.
The scene was from one of janes dream state imaginations, wondering what kind of underwear the mysterious cute boy would be wearing. Here, he is in fishnet stocks and some sexy black panties.
It was absolutely freezing when we did this shot, I couldn’t believe how composed he remained. I'd have demanded heaters if it were me!
Not sure how he felt getting into this *little* outfit, but he did a great job and was totally professional about the scene.
What did you think of our film at the viewing?

New appreciation for film makers..
There is one thing that stands out to me after having been in the course for 12weeks. I have an amazing sense of appreciation and for professional filmmakers. Who in their right mind would put themselves through the time wasting and effort exhausting process of making a movie I’m not sure but I thank them for it. It it weren’t for them I wouldn’t be able to enjoy some of my favourite films and TV shows.
Think of things like Harry potter, or Lord of the Rings, or Fast and the furious. These are massive movies that would take month to film, months to edit, years to actually be made into the shows we enjoy from our couches. That’s a hell of a lot of time dedicated to one project.
I guess it’s like most things but if you don’t actually experience something yourself you don’t have a true appreciation for it. In some cases, it’s easier than it seems but it others, like making a movie, its so much harder.
I can’t deny that I have learnt a whole heap in this class and I’m grateful for it. This class has absolutely 100% solidified my idea that film making and film production is not the career I want to pursue.

The (epic) edit begins
Today we really got stuck into editing.
And as expected it was tiring and labouring. Everyone was in the studio with their A-game on.
A few things we discovered as we began to cut through footage:
· Spotted BOOM pole in some of the shots – which either made them impossible to use or we had to zoom the shot in and fiddle with it so the shadows/actual pole were out of sight.
· The sound was proving to be an issue because some sounds were too soft, others too loud and then some of it was perfect. Lucky for us though – as some of our scenes are fantasy and don’t require sound, we didn’t worry too much it on the shoot. It’s funny to listen to it back though and hear us chatting in the background. Kieran played with the sound after I left –had to get back to work- and it sounds good. It’s amazing the effect sound can have on a piece, we’re definitely able to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
· Colour scheme. The only thing we have to do now is saturate the fantasy scenes to make it bleeding obvious to the audience these scenes are in her head/in dream state.
o That was one of the things people picked up in the rough-cut showing the other week – they weren’t sure what was real or what the point of the costume change was. We hope the colour difference and sound will aid in the differentiation process.
· We also had trouble with saving our recent work to the server. Kept coming up with a ‘server error’ message – which is really frustrating because we didn’t have another way of saving. Verity saved it to the documents folder so it’s somewhere on the computer. Fingers crossed we can find it easily on Sunday
Verity, Hana and myself are heading back into the studios on Sunday to fiddle with the colour. Hope it all runs smoothly!

Shooting. ...In Franskton
It's been a while since I last blogged, time to pick up the slack.
Over the weeks I've disappeared from cyberspace, my team and I have done some great work filming.
We out to Frankston last monday and spent 12 hours on set setting up lights and shots - SO EXHAUSTING.
In saying that the day was a success! We managed to capture everything we needed to in order to start editing.
It started raining at one point on Monday but that didn't hold us back - we just decided to have lunch and wait it out.
It was pretty funny, Kieran was telling us the other day that while we were shooting in the cafe (our location in Frankston) customers were approaching the staff asking if we were apart of the neighbours cast and crew. As professional as we looked with out actors, the red heads and the boom I dont think we looked that professional.
Were going to start editing the footage soon, which I am daunting. It's going to be long and tiresome and a lot of sitting around. At least I can be prepared for it. Think I'll have to bring in some lollies to keep everyone's energy peaking!
Tune in for posts during the edit-process. Trust me, there will be stories to share.

Lenny tomorrow..
We're filming our own version of the Lenny exercise in class tomorrow afternoon.
Kieran isn't going to be in class so I'll be taking over the sound element. I'm worried. I'm pretty sure I'm the last person who should be in control of that. It's good because I know if I have trouble, someone in the group could help me.
It's kind of good in a way because I mean, I wouldn't have gotten a chance to have a go at the sound element if he was here tomorrow. I'm excited to see how it goes, although with my little arms I'm not sure how long I'll be able to hold the boom up for ;)
Stay tunned to see how we went!

No dialogue doen't mean no script
It's interesting working on a script without any dialogue. I'm fully confident as a group we're going to pull it off...Unless our actors don't show up on the day of filming.
We've got some great ideas for actors and the script that Kieran wrote is really alluring and captivating.
It's a challenge but at the same time if we execute it properly (and I have no doubt we will) it'll definitely pay off. It's a different approach that I thought no-one else would really do - but in class we found out nearly everyone is doing a no-dialogue films. Takes away the uniqueness away from ours but I'm interested to see how everyone else's turns out.
There's another group doing the same plot idea as us and so far despite being vaguely about the same thing, they're so different.
I'm confident our group is on track with organising our film. We've sussed a location - K's hooked us up with a great place in Frankston. And we're holding auditions later this week, which I'm really excited about. I've been working on costumes and make up and the general aesthetic style and feel. It's pretty fun because the dream-state make-up and outfits make the film raunchy and exciting.

Call me, Production Desirreeee
thats right. I am my groups production designer.
I sound pretty confident right? honestly though, what's a P.D?
So, as all good students do when they're confronted with an unfamiliar term; I google'd.
I soon found i was responsible for the overall look of a filmed event. Which includes but is not limited to the colour design, styles, genre, makeup, costuming and props.
In pre-production I'm going to have to concentrate and work heavily with our designer to create a particular vibe and feel of the set. I think it's one of, if not the most important element of the film. It's the first thing the audience see, absorbs, reacts and relates to. The visual appeal of the environment is crucial.
Now that I've said that, gosh there's so much pressure to find (not only) the perfect location but the perfect angle.
Wish us luck!
